Data Migration & Reconciliation Toolkit
In development
Context
A project in development for exploring a data-migration flow with CSV/XLSX files, explicit normalization and validation rules, duplicate detection, and reconciliation.
Problem
Migrations often depend on manual spreadsheet reviews, scattered rules, and checks that are difficult to repeat. The objective is to make a small, clear, and verifiable process visible using synthetic data.
Objective
I am defining a desktop tool that separates reading, mapping, normalization, validation, deduplication, reconciliation, and reporting.
Technical decisions
- I am using C# and .NET as the foundation for the desktop application.
- I am planning Windows Forms for the interface and xUnit for testing support.
- Process rows independently so invalid rows can be isolated without cancelling the whole file.
- Work only with synthetic data and explicit comparison rules.
Planned scope
- The planned scope covers CSV/XLSX import, mapping, normalization, validation, duplicate detection, reconciliation, and reports.
- The interface, processing, and reports are not presented here as finished.
Planned architecture
The processing core and desktop application have separate responsibilities. Tests are planned around rules and flows based on synthetic files.
Current status
The project is still in development. The interface, file processing, and reports are described as scope, not as finished features.
Limits
- The project is still in development and focuses on a synthetic customer profile and explicit rules.
- It does not claim coverage of multiple entities, distributed large volumes, or complete enterprise scenarios.
- No screenshots are added: this portfolio does not fabricate visual evidence for a work in progress.
Current status
In development. The repository defines the toolkit flow and scope; it is not presented as a finished tool.
What it will demonstrate
- Traceability between original value, normalization, validation, and output is part of migration usefulness.
- Reconciliation needs explicit rules to distinguish matches, differences, missing records, duplicates, and invalid rows.
